This is Thin Privilege: Thin privilege is being able to say medical reasons are behind your weight and not be criticized.

I have a hypothyroid ( a slow, hardly working thyroid) and it makes it very difficult to loose weight. The entire summer I biked, worked out and ate near the starvation mode of calories. I gained weight.

When I tell people it’s very difficult to lose weight due to my hypothyriodism people laugh…

I have this too and I used to take quadruple the amount of medication prescribed to me in hopes that I could make myself into one of those skinny, “I can eat whatever I want and not gain weight”, hyperthyroid people. Fucked my body up right good.

Am I bitter? You bet I fucking am.

The irony is, overmedicating hypothyroidism can cause weight gain too. I’m also Hypo, and I hate the way it’s treated like a joke condition because “LOL FAT DISEASE”

I have hyperthyroidism and doctors are forever disbelieving me because I’m super fat.

Doctors don’t trust fat bodies.

And pretty much everyone else doesn’t trust fat bodies.

How are any fat bodies meant to get adequate health care when this is the default situation?

i very likely have hypothyroidism and if you’re fat and you say you have it people actually think you’re straight-up lying because lol fat people excuses

i don’t even care if i lose weight, i just want to get treated so i can try and feel somewhat normal again

I’m fat and bipolar and can never convince doctors I’m NOT hypothyroid. Every new doctor goes, “Oh, you’re fat and bipolar! I bet you really have hypothyroid!” and orders the test again, despite a long slew of them I can show him. My thyroid is in EXCELLENT shape, dammit. And I HATE blood draws.
